Punjabi University faculty express gratitude to CM Captain Amarinder Singh for bailing University out of financial crunch

PATIALA: Terming Rs 90 Crore grant announced by the state on the special initiatives of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, a ray of hope for the dwindling financial condition of the Punjabi University, Patiala, faculty members expresed gratitude to the CM today.
Welcoming the grant announced in this budget, the Registrar of the University Dr. Davinder Singh Sidhu said that with this grant, the financial crisis of the university would be solved and at the same time the university was looking at its own resources so that we could become self reliant. He specially thanked the Chief Minister and said that this grant would give a big boost to the university.
Dean of Colleges, Dr. Jagroop Kaur said that she was hopeful that this financial help would be helpful to restore the pride of the university as this university provides education to the students of many districts of Malwa of Punjab.
Punjabi University Teachers Association President, Prof. Nishan Singh Deol while expressing thanks to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on behalf of the entire PUTA executive, said that he hoped that the Punjab Government would continue to support the financial needs of the University in the future as well. He said that with this grant, the university would be able to balance its debt.
Seconding Dr. Nishan Singh, PUTA's Secretary Dr. Avneet Pal Singh, Vice President Maninder Singh and Executive Member Dr. Rajinder Singh said that they were also hopeful that the Punjab Government would continue to support the University in the same manner so that the University would continue to serve the Punjabi language, culture and heritage.
The head of the Psychology Department of the university, Dr. Mamta Sharam while thanking the Punjab government, said that the state government has provided a big relief to every section of the university by giving a grant of Rs. 90 crore to get it out of the financial crisis. She expressed hope that the university would reach new heights again.
The Administrating officer, Dr. Prabhlin Singh said that with the grant of Rs. 90 crore given to the Punjabi University to balance the debt liability, the functioning of the university would go smoothly. He thanked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and hoped that with this the university would continue to provide education to the students following its old traditions with the help of Punjab government.
