Punjab Police register FIR of murder of farmer Shubhkaran Singh, killed in firing at Khanauri border

CHANDIGARH: Bowing to pressure from farmer organisations, the Punjab police on Wednesday night registered FIR under section 302 of IPC for the murder of a farmer Shubhkaran Singh at Khanuari border allegedly in firing by the Haryana Police.

Shubhkaran Singh was killed during farmer's agitation on February 21. His family had regused to cremate the dead body untill FIR isnot lodged for murder. Though family had accused Haryana police for the murder, the FIR has been registered against unidentified persons. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of father of the deceased.

After registration of the murder case the post mortem of the dead body was conducted by a panel of five doctors of Rajindra Hopsital and Medical college Patiala. Shubhkaran had a bullet mark on back of his head. More details would be availbale after post report will be submitted by the panel of doctors.

According to SKM leader Swaran Singh Pandher, the dead body of Shubhkaran would be taken to Khanauri border at 9.30 AM for paying hi tributes. He said that Shubhkaran is martyr of farmer's agitation. He said that cremation of Shubhkaran will be done at village balo near Rampuraphul in Bathinda district at 2 PM.

Punjab Chief Minister had announced a compensation of Rs.1 crore for family of Shubhkaran Singh besides offering government job to sister of the deceased.
