Punjab Congress to hold state wide demonstrations in support of farmers of Bharat Bandh

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab state unit of the Indian National Congress will hold state wide demonstrations on the 16th of February, a day which has been declared as Bharat Bandh by the farmer unions protesting at the borders of Haryana.

The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee will hold demonstrations in all district headquarters of the state. A delegation from the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh led by PCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring will submit a memorandum to the Governor of Punjab, demanding justice for the farmers of the state.

Furthermore, the delegation of leaders from the Congress Bhawan will also demand action to be taken against the Home Minister of Haryana, Anil Vij, under who’s orders, atrocities have been conducted against the farmers of our state, all while they were within the territory of Punjab, making their actions unconstitutional and going against the basic rights of our farmers.

A bharat bandh has been declared by the farmer unions of the nation on the 16th of February 2024. The farmers continue to ask for rights such as a guarantee on MSP all while fighting against issues such as unemployment, as well as anti-people policies of the Central Government.

Punjab Congress pledge their undying support to the farmers throughout their struggles and will fight to provide justice to the farmers and hold the Haryana Home Minister accountable for his role in the attack on the farmers demonstrating peacefully for their rights.

The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee have been working in support of the farmers as a memorandum was submitted by a delegation of Congress leaders led by PCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring to the Chief Secretary of Punjab demanding action against Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and SP Ambala for the atrocities against the farmers. Furthermore, a helpline was also launched by Punjab Congress in order to provide free legal aid to the farmers throughout the farmers protest.
