Expresses shock over the death of Shubkaran Singh
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today announced to register FIR for the murder of Punjab youth Shubhkaran Singh allegedly killed in firing by Haryana Police at Khanuari border.
The Chief Minister further said that the death of youth is a result of the high handedness of the Union and Haryana government. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he had tried his level best to ensure that the farmers and youth do not face the bullets, water cannons, tear shells and others. For this, he said that he acted as a bridge to ensure that the farmers and Union government at some consensus but unfortunately it never happened.
The 21 year old Shubkaran, son of a farmer of village Ballon in Bathinda district was part of the farmers preotesting at Khanuari border when Haryana police opened fire. Three youth injured in the firing were rushed to Rajindra Hospital Patiaa where Shubhkarn was declared brough dead.
Chief Minister expressed deep shock Over the death of Shubhkaran whose family owns only two acres of land. He has three sisters and his father is a driver of school van. Chief Minister said that Punjab gvernment would stand with the family of deceased farmer and help them finacially and socially.
Chief Minister condemned the brutuality of Haryana police and said that he has asked the police to regiter an FIR after postmoretm of the dead body of Shubhkaran. He said that such a violence by Haryana police would not be tolerated. He said that they had also told the Punjab and Haryana Court that there is no law and order in Punjab. The Haryana government has blocked the roads and stopped farmers from going to Delhi. He said that it was due to Haryana government that farmers are forced to assemble at border.
The Chief Minister said that in order to provide immediate health services to the agitating farmers the state government has deployed Ambulances and vehicles of Sadak Surakhya Force at the site. He said that as most of the farmers are coming up with problem of eyes due to use of tear gas so two Ministers the state government as one MLA, who are eye specialists have been deployed at the hospitals. Bhagwant Singh Mann said Health Minister Dr Balbir will oversee all such cases at Patiala another Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur will be stationed at Patran and Khanori whereas MLA Dr Charanjit Singh Channi will be stationed at Rajpura hospital.
The opposition parties of Punjab have also demanded to immediately register FIR against Haryana police and arrest the responsible police officer.
LoP and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa has demanded to register FIR against Haryana home minister Anul Viz. He said that over 200 farmers are seriously injured in unprovoked attacks by Haryana police. He said that it was inhuman to fire tearshells and firing on farmers.
Charanjit Singh Channi has also demanded FIR against Haryana Police. He said that Punjab farmers were peaceful and Haryana police entered the Punjab territory to attack the farmers.
Shiromani Akali Dal has also demanded FIR of murder against Haryana police and also blamed Bhagwant Mann for present situation on the Haryana borders.
