CHANDIGARH: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has raised questions on the mediation by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the talks between agitating farmers and the centre government. He advised farmers to make direct talks with the centre government.

Talking ot media at Delhi yesterday, Jakhar who was silent on the farmer’s agitation has also justified the security arrangements made by Haryana Government to stop farmers from marching to Delhi. He said that some miscreants mixed in the farmers are indulging in violence. He said that he don’t think governments pay such restriction on movement of farmers if they are peaceful.

Sunil Jakhar without naming Bhagwant Mann said that those mediating in the talks have vested interests and not interested to resolve the issues. He said that the mediators had themselves promised to grant MSP on crops if they are voted to power.

He said that talks were the only solution to farmers demands. He said that so called mediators were invited by farmers but they don’t know the intentions of such people. He added that farmers should avoid the mediators who are playing double game. The mediators are hunting with the hounds and running with the hairs.

It is pertinent to mention that Bhagwant Mann had arranged meetings between Samyuk Kisan Morcha(non-political)and the center government. So far three meetings have been held and fourth is scheduled on Sunday, February 18.

Sunil Jakhar said that there was definitely something fishy in the farmer's agitation as he quoted, " Daal me kala nahi, sari daal hi kali hai" while referring to a statement made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Jakhar however averted direct answer to questions if he agrees with the demands of farmers. He said that farmers should be seen with sympathy and he was hopeful talks with the centre will be successful. He said that farmers should not be branded as Sikhs, Punjabis and Khalistanis. He said that he heard debates that big farmers are talking but it is not true. The farmers all over the world are protesting against policies.

Jakhar said that farmers were as important as the army personnel. He said that those criticising farmers shall remember contribution of farmers. He said that PM Narender Modi had sent three senior ministers for talks.

He advised farmers to avoid confrontation with security forces. He said that youth should be restrained from hooliganism.
