Phagwara Municipal Corporation Celebrates “Daan Utsav”

PHAGWARA: The Municipal Corporation, Phagwara is celebrating “Daan Utsav” at the Municipal Library, Blood Bank and Hargobind Nagar Phagwara.

The two-days festival dedicated to the "Spirit of Giving" was inagurated jointly by Mayor Rampal Uppal and Commissioner Dr. Akshita Gupta at Blood Bank, Phagwara today. As part of this celebration, various social welfare activities are being organized across the city to encourage public participation in community service and charitable acts.

The primary aim of “Daan Utsav” is to foster a culture of generosity and social responsibility among the citizens of Phagwara. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Rampal Uppal emphasized the importance of community involvement in building a compassionate society. Commissioner Dr. Akshita Gupta highlighted the role of such events in strengthening civic sense and inclusivity. The Municipal Corporation appeals to all residents to actively participate in the celebrations and contribute their time, resources, and efforts toward this noble cause.

Dr. Gupta stated that in this spirit, all residents of Phagwara are encouraged to come forward and donate usable but unused items such as clothes, textbooks, toys, shoes, and other household goods. To further this cause, the Municipal Corporation has also established RRR (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) Centres at Hakupura and Hadiabad, which will remain open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Dr Gupta said the citizens can deposit items that are in good condition but no longer needed, and those in need may collect these items free of cost. The initiative ensures that useful resources do not go to waste but are redirected to those who need them the most. Through this collective act of giving, the Municipal Corporation Phagwara urges every resident to take part in this service-oriented initiative and make “Daan Utsav” not just an event, but a movement towards lasting social change.

On this occasion, Chief Sanitary Officer Gurinder Singh, Chief Sanitary Inspector Ajay Kumar, Sanitary Inspectorss Hitesh Sharma, Namdev, Deepak Kumar, Sewak Ram, Jatinder Vij, Pooja, and Sunita were present and contributed to the successful commencement of the event.
