Patiala police perform extra ordinary duty during corona epidemic: IG Aulakh

PATIALA:Patiala Police today observed the 61st Police Commemoration Day Parade at local police lines. IG Patiala Range Jatinder Singh Aulakh and SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal along with civil and judicial officers paid the rich tributes to the valiant martyrs of the Police who laid down their lives to maintain peace and harmony and law and order in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, IG Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh said that the sacrifices of the police martyrs motivate us to face any adversity in the future, to be ready for any sacrifice for the honor and dignity of the country. He said that the Police Commemoration Day was observed to reassure the dependents of the martyrs that the Police Department and the Society would not only remain indebted to the sacrifices made by the police martyrs but would also stand by them.

Mr. Aulakh lauded the role played by Patiala Police during the current Covid-19 epidemic and said that our Corona Warriors of the police in addition to their duty cooperated with the district administration day and night to help the needy especially to provide food to migrant workers and helping thousands of them to reach their homes safely. He also applauded the Police Ekta Fund set up by Mr. Vikram Jeet Duggal to help the families of the frontline Warriors of Patiala Police who lost their lives to Corona.

While paying homage to the valiant warriors of all the police and paramilitary forces, Mr. Aulakh said that on October 21, 1959, at the Hot Springs area of Ladakh on the India-China border, CRPF contingent led by SI Karam Singh, guarding the borders was ambushed by Chinese troops. To recall the sacrifice of those brave soldiers, it was decided later on to observe this day as the symbol of sacrifice of Police and Paramilitary Forces each year.

Earlier, a contingent led by the parade commander ASP Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam (IPS Trainee) gave salute to the martyrs and officials present on the occasion observed two minutes silence to pay tributes to the martyrs.

While paying tributes to the martyrs, SSP Mr. Vikram Jeet Duggal said that the people of Punjab were proud of the Punjab Police officers and jawans who sacrificed their lives in the service of the country. Reiterating the same spirit of sacrifice shown by the police martyrs, he said that our brave soldiers and officers would also follow the path shown by the martyrs to maintain the unity and integration of the country, in need. He also thanked all the guests who attended the function.

During the function, SP (H) S. Navneet Singh Bains read out the name of the officers and jawans of all the police and paramilitary forces who were martyred across the country for the internal and external security of the country from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020.

District Sessions Judge Mr. Rajinder Agarwal, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Additional Sessions Judge Mr. Shiv Mohan Garg, SP City Mr. Varun Sharma, SP PBI Dr. Simrat Kaur, SP Investigation Harmeet Singh Hundal, SP Traffic and Safety Palwinder Singh Cheema, SDM Charanjit Singh, all DSPs and other police officers and staff, retired SP Mr. Manjit Singh Brar, President Punjab Police Pensioners Association Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Patron Mr. Samsher Singh Guddu including the families of the martyrs, paid floral tributes by laying wreaths on the memorial and pictures of the martyrs.
