PATIALA:In a bid to remove the underlying causes for accidents, Patiala Police in coordination with other departments and civil society have constituted Accident resolution teams (ARTs) to study each and every accident blackspot in the district and suggest actionable remedies with respect to road engineering and other related causes to control accident rate in the district.
Twenty five Accident resolution teams headed by respective area SHOs have been constituted in the district with other stakeholders such as Traffic in-charge , Motor vehicle inspector, Project manager NHAI/Sub divisional Engineer, Junior engineer, Engineer(MC), EPO NREGA, Municipal councillor/Sarpanch and representatives from local population as members.
So far, 55 Accident Blackspots have been identified in Patiala District and every ART has been tasked with visiting and inspecting the Blackspots in their respective jurisdictions
The concerned ART would visit the Accident Blackspot, identify and study the causes of accidents and suggest both short term and long term actionable points to reduce the accident in that area. The recommendation would be sent to the concerned department and will be implemented at the earliest.
Besides the efforts by Police and other departments, Patiala Police has appealed the local people to participate as stakeholders and suggest solutions for reducing accidents.
Cooperation of local population and volunteers would ensure continuity thereby ensuring long lasting solution to this problem.
