CHANDIGARH: Senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat), MLA and former Finance Minister, Parminder Singh Dhindsa while coming down heavily on the Punjab Government said that at a time when the priority of the State Government should have been saving every precious life, they are busy selling the vaccination to private hospitals just to earn profit worth crores.
"It is shameful that Punjab Government had sold vaccination which was meant for the common man to the private hospitals just to earn a profit, " said Dhindsa.
Demanding the resignation of Punjab Health Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Dhindsa said that a CBI inquiry should immediately be marked to unfold the hidden layers of this scam.
In a statement issued here today, Dhindsa said that selling vaccinations worth crores to private hospitals which were meant to be given to the common man for free of cost is nothing less than a big scam. " Instead of using the vaccination should for saving precious lives of the people of the state, Punjab Government is working for hand in gloves with the private hospitals and is selling the vaccination just to earn a profit, " said Sh. Dhindsa.
He said that it is shameful that on one hand, the people of the state are dying of this deadly virus, while on the other Punjab government is busy earning profit worth crores by selling the vaccinations to private hospitals instead of saving the lives of the people.
" Punjab Government had procured the vaccination in the name of the people at cheaper rates but now they are unethically has earned crores by selling the vaccination to the private hospitals, " said Dhindsa. He said that at a time when there is a huge shortage of vaccines in the state and the government's utmost duty is to provide vaccination in government hospitals and vaccination centres, they are shamelessly selling the vaccination procured at cheaper rates to private hospitals on high prices." By doing this, the private hospitals have been given free rein by the government to financially fleece the people of the state, " said Dhindsa.
He said that after the vaccine scam came to light, the government had recalled the doses of vaccines sent to private hospitals. This has also shown the 'mala fide intentions of the Punjab Government, added Dhindsa.
He said that the Congress government led by Capt. Amarinder Singh had done nothing more than misleading the people of Punjab for the last four years and even during this Pandemic it had mercilessly looted the people of the state just to earn their profits.
