KOTKAPURA: Up in arms against Punjab and Haryana High Court verdict on SIT report related to Kotkapura firing incident, Panthic groups led by former Akal Takhat Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh today burned the copies of the judgement terming it political and flawed.
A large number of Panthic activists gathered at Main Chowk and raised slogans amidst tearing off and burning of the copies. They were carrying placards to convey the message: One of the placard reads : Justice did Injustice to Sikhs. Another stated that there’s no justice for Sikhs in Hindutva India.
Representatives of Panthic groups alleged that the Judiciary was biased and Amarinder led Government has betrayed the Sikhs in sacrilege related cases and Maur bomb blast case.
Former leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira said by burning the copies, we have registered our protest and anger against the flawed judgement, which is totally unacceptable to Sikh people. He further said the Sikhs were upset over the miscarriage of justice.
He said our act was on the lines of agitating farmers burning three contentious farm laws in Punjab. It’s a democratic form of protest as this judgement has killed all hopes of justice in aggrieved family and community.
Dal Khalsa Spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh said the judgement reflects that the Badal family have even managed the judiciary to get the clean chit for them. He alleged that the judge has delivered judgement keeping in mind his post retirement political settlement.
Dal Khalsa leader said denial of Justice in sacrilege related cases will push the state back to 80’s when the people of Punjab were compelled to do justice on their own”.
SAD ( Democratic) leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa said we don’t expect any justice from present Punjab government as the HC verdict has reflected its utter failure to defend the SIT report in the court.
