Only wholesale operation is allowed in vegetable markets -DC and SSP visits phagwara

PHAGWARA: Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal and SSP Kapurthala Kanwardeep Kaur visited the vegetable market at Phagwara today and directed to take stern action against the violators of the covid protocol. They also visited the testing center at Sarai Road near the bus stand.

Both the officials clarified that " only wholesale operation is allowed in the vegetable markets and retail work in mandis has been suspended. "

They said that there was a danger of rapid spread of covid in the last few days due to congestion in the vegetable mandis. Deputy commissioner said that to facilitate the public and vendors , the option for home delivery has been allowed till 9 PM across the district.

They also visited the covid sampling camps at Sabzi Mandi and said that tests should be carried out on daily basis here so that the spread of covid through the mandis could be stopped.

Meanwhile S.S.P. Kapurthala said that Punjab Police has constituted special teams for continuous patrolling in congested areas to ensure the implementation of covid guidlines in true spirit and manner.
She also said that strict action is being taken against those who roam without any reason.

They also appealed to the artiyas and shopkeepers to abide by the restrictions imposed by the Punjab government for the welfare of the people to curb the epidemic.

On this occasion, A.D.C. Phagwara Rajiv Verma, SP Sarabjit Singh Bahia were also present.
