Navjot Sidhu seeks permission from Capt Amarinder Singh, MEA to visit Pakistan on Parkash Purb

CHANDIGARH: Navjot Sindh Sidhu Amritsar MLA and former cabinet minister has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Union Minister of Exrernal Affairs Dr.Subrahmanyam Jaishankar seeking permission to visit Pakistan on eve of Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Navjot Sidhu has informed Chief Minister and MEA that he has been invited by the Pakistan Government for opening ceremony of Kartarpur Sahib corridor on November 9, 2019. Earlier reports siad that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited Navjot Sidhu as his personal friend. They both played cricket together and are old freinds. He had given credit for Kartarpur Sahib corridor to Navjot Sidhu.

Sidhu in his letter writes, " As a humble Sikh, it shall be a great honour to pay obeisance to out great guru Baba Nanak on this historic occassion and connect to our roots. Therefore I may be permitted to visit Pakistabn for the auspiecious occassion.

Capt Amarinder Singh had condemned Sidhu's gesture of hugging Pakistan army chief when he had last visited Pakistan on foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. Sidhu was branded  as Pakistani agent and anti-national by his critics in Congress and BJP.It is yet to be seen if Chief Minister and MEA gives Sidhu permission to visit Paksitan.

While Imran Khan will open the corridor on Paksitani side, Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi will inagurate the Kartarpur Sahib corridor.

Punjab government is also holding a special session of Vidhan Sabha to mark the occassion on November 6, 2019.
