MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla meets people blocking highway in Jaintipur, serious allegations of misbehavior against private electricity workers

AMRIK SINGH | December 31, 2025 09:29 PM

AMRITSARMP Gurjeet Singh Aujla reached the spot to meet the people sitting on a dharna by blocking the highway in protest against the alleged misbehavior by private electricity workers in Jaintipur area of Majitha constituency. The protesting people demanded strict action against the electricity workers.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that at around 5 am today, some private electricity workers, along with one or two officials, reached Jaintipur village and allegedly entered the houses of the people. Their faces were covered and they started misbehaving with the people. Allegations of misbehavior with women have also been made.

Aujla said that the people immediately informed the police, but the police did not reach the spot, due to which the people were forced to stage a protest and block the highway. After about four hours, the police reached the spot and recorded the statement and assured action.

MP Aujla targeted the government and said that the government cannot be ruled by harassing the people. Time is not always the same. If people know how to put someone in power, they also know how to take them down. He said that on the occasion of the New Year, people are offering prayers at religious places, but the government has created very bad conditions for the people of Jaintipur.

He said that if the government has to take any action, then at least the day and festival should be taken care of. The people of Jaintipur are not those who use more than 600 units of electricity. Despite this, such action and misbehavior is condemnable. He demanded that if any action is to be taken, it should be done under law and order, and not by intimidating people.

MP Aujla said that the working people are being harassed without any reason. If people do not get justice, they will be forced to take to the streets. He demanded from the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire matter and take strictest action against the culprits.

On this occasion, MP Aujla thanked all the youth including the president of the Youth Rural Organization German Gill, Aman, Harry, Rahul, who left their personal programs and stood with the poor and the affected people and supported them.

Aujla said that this matter is either a result of political enmity or it shows the gross negligence of the police. He believes that this is an action taken with a sense of political revenge. He said that votes are not obtained through fear, but through development and public interest works. The government should understand this, because people will answer for everything in 2027.
