MLA cheema and Dhaliwal also distributes smart cards to beneficiaries at sultanpur and phagwara

PHAGWARA / KAPURTHALA:To ensure the welfare of people in a better way the punjab Government has today launched the "Smart Ration card " scheme at all 4 sub divisions of the district. Under this scheme more than 3.76 lakh people would be able to procure the ration from any depot in the punjab.

The district level launch function was presided over by Deputy commissioner Deepti Uppal where as in sultanpur lodhi MLA Navtej singh cheema and at phagwara MLA S. Balwinder singh dhaliwal has launched it.

Speaking on the occasion kapurthala Deepti Uppal said that the district has fully geared up to implement this welfare project in true spirit and manner.

She said that the due to the lockdown it was become more relevent to provide the ration to people at their nearest place.

On the other hand MLA Navtej singh cheema said that with the launch of smart ration card not only the beneficiaries would be able to procure ration at nearest depot but would also eliminate the possibility of bogus beneficiaries.

This unique card have electronic chip having compatibility with E- Pose machines of depot holder, which would further ensure 100 % transparency in ration distribution.

Hailing the efforts of Punjab Government MLA Phagwara Balwinder singh dhaliwal said that the state always witnessed milestone steps in the area of welfare and development like procurement of crops and distribution of ration under the leadership of chief Minister Captain Amarinder singh. He said that the smart ration card would be a game changer to save the interests of poor people of the state.

It may be mentioned here that a huge task to link the adhar cards of all 3.76 lakh beneficiaries with their smart ration cards besides upgrading E- Pose machines of all depot holders in the district.

The district have 101605 families with smart ration cards, facilitating more than 376556 people.
