Memo to Punjab CM for appointment of Chairman and staff of general category commission

PATIALA: The General Category Welfare Federation (PSPCL/PSTCL) delegation submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Punjab through DC Patiala for the appointment of Chairman and Staff of Punjab General category Commission. The delegation consisted of Kuljeet Singh Rattol President, Sukhpreet Singh General Secretary, Hargurmeet Singh Lubana, Maninder Singh, Jaswinder Paul, Sushil Goyal , Ashok Chopra and others. On this occasion Kundan Gogia, Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and Rajeev Chugh Advocate were also present.

Kuljeet Singh Rattol said that the commission was established by the then government for solving the problems of general categories and listening to their grievances.The present government has not appointed chairman and other necessary staff during the last two years. Due to this there is no one to hear the grievances of the general category.

Sukhpreet Singh said that in services the reserve category employees are enjoying more than their share quota posts. The political parties in Punjab are aloof to the problems of general category. The federation has already submitted various memorandums on this demand to chief minister through ministers and various party leaders.

V K Gupta spokesperson said that a person from a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe gets into IPS. So, once he’s an IPS, IFS, his children don’t suffer the disadvantages that the persons from category who are residing in the villages suffer. But then by virtue of reservation, they are also entitled to get reservation for the second generation and again the third generation.

Gurmail Singh , Gurpreet Singh and Gurbir Singh Bhatia said as per supreme court decision the reserve category employees who are in creamy layer should not be given reservation benefits.Such candidates should compete with general category candidates.
