CHANDIGARH: The Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan made a surprise visit to various grain markets of the Malwa belt and reviewed the procurement of paddy. He instructed the officials to ensure smooth and efficient procurement of paddy.
After visiting the grain markets, S. Sandhwan expressed satisfaction over the procurement arrangements and ordered to resolve any problem wherever it appeared. He said that the Punjab government is committed to provide every facility to the farmers in the markets and the government has already issued instructions in this regard. He said that during the current season, the farmers will not face any problem in the markets. Flying squads have been formed to monitor the arrival of paddy in the markets and check posts have been made at the inter-state borders to prevent any illegal purchase during the season. Apart from this, orders have been issued to ensure payment within 24 hours to all farmers.
The Vidhan Sabha Speaker said that the Punjab government is committed to the purchase every grain of paddy. Clear instructions have been given regarding the procurement, lifting, transportation, labour, electricity, drinking water, sanitation, toilet facility ect. All grain markets are being monitored by sub-divisional magistrates and procurement agencies have been ordered to follow te instructions of the government.
