CHANDIGARH:MP Singh and Shivinder Singh Sidhu also took charge as members of the commission
Retired Justice Mr. Shekher Dhawan today assumed charge as Chairman of NRI Commission along with two members Mr. MP Singh and Mr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu in presence of Punjab Sports, Youth Services and NRI Affairs Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and other dignitaries.
Extending warm wishes to Chairman and other members, Rana Sodhi recalled the outstanding services rendered by Justice Dhawan for strengthening the judicial system. Expressing hope that NRI Commission would immensely benefitted from their leadership and visionary approach and grievances of NRI Diaspora will be resolved on a fast track with these appointments. Appreciating the Punjabi Diaspora for making Punjab and India proud with their work in different parts of the world, he informed that the Punjab government has initiated the process to set up special courts to expeditiously settle cases of NRIs.
While expressing gratitude to shouldering responsibility on him, Justice Dhawan assured that he would discharge his responsibilities and duties as Chairman with utmost dedication. Among others who were present on the occasion included; Mr. Justice T.P.S. Mann, Chairman, Haryana State Consumer Forum, Mr. Gurjit Singh Lehal, Member NRI Commission, Punjab, Mrs. Amaninder Kaur Brar, Secretary, NRI Commission, Mr. M.P. Singh and Mr. Anil Sharma.
