CHANDIGARH: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said here today that the Supreme Court order to shift noted criminal Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab to UP has come as a slap on the face of the Amarinder Singh government.
In a statement, Chugh said it is a moral victory for the law enforcing agencies in the face of blatant patronage and protection granted by the Amarinder Singh government to a criminal who is accused in the murder case.
Chugh said it was because of AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was not allowing Ansari to be shifted to UP. "It was a cheap and criminal act of the chief minister while appeasing his political mentors in the Gandhi family, " said Chugh.
Chugh said Ansari was granted five-star facilities in the Nabha jail while the Punjab Jail minister Randhawa enjoyed the hospitality of the Ansari family during his recent visit to UP.
"It exposes criminal nexus between the Congress and the criminals", Chugh added while lauding the Supreme Court for upholding justice.
