PHAGWARA: A massive congregation of Hindu leaders from across Punjab gathered at the Jago Hindu Mahasammelan held at the Shri Hanuman Garhi Temple in Phagwara today. The event showcased a united front of various Sanatan Hindu organizations, which collectively issued a stern warning to both the Punjab and central governments that any further injustice towards the Hindu community will not be tolerated.

Speakers at the event lamented that Hindus are often treated as second-class citizens. They highlighted the historical patience of the Hindu community but asserted that this tolerance should not be mistaken for weakness. The leaders expressed frustration over the lack of justice for the 35, 000 Hindus who were brutally murdered during the dark period of terrorism in Punjab. Despite forming nearly half of Punjab's population, the community continues to face marginalization and violence, they claimed.

A 25-members core committee was formed tasked with addressing issues affecting Hindus in Punjab and strategizing the way forward. The committee includes prominent figures such as Sanjeev Ghanoli of Shiv Sena Punjab, Nishant Sharma of Shiv Sena Hind, and Jai Gopal Lali of Hindu United Front, Inderjit Karwal(Shiv Sena Punjab), Rajiv Tandon(Hindu Sanyukat Morcha), Deepak Bhardwaj (HinduSuraksha Samiti) among others The committee members emphasized that while the Hindu community knows how to defend itself, their fight will remain within the bounds of democratic principles and the Constitution.

The speakers also condemned the growing instances of disrespect towards Hindu deities, attacks on Hindu leaders, and the perceived apathy of the government and administrative bodies. They demanded that political parties respect the rights and sentiments of the Hindu community if they wish to garner their votes in the future. The leaders vowed to continue their struggle for justice and equality, insisting that the direction of this fight will be determined by the actions of the government.

The event witnessed the participation of hundreds of Hindu leaders, activists, and community members, who collectively voiced their concerns and pledged to stand united in their fight for justice
