Goldy Brar Threatens Punjab Govt, Police After Parents’ Arrest in Extortion Case

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | January 29, 2026 04:53 PM

CHANDIGARH:  Gangster Goldy Brar, who is believed to be hiding in the United States, has issued an open threat to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab and the Punjab Police, warning them of “serious consequences” for arresting his parents in an extortion case.

In an audio message circulated on social media, Brar claimed that neither the state government nor the police could intimidate him. He asserted that he has a “global reach” and claimed to know the whereabouts of children of police officers and politicians living abroad, warning that he could strike back if provoked.

“If the police think the government will scare me, that is not possible. Do not harass the families of gangsters. If you do, we will respond in the same way, ” Brar said in the message, which has since gone viral and raised serious security concerns.

The threat comes a day after the Punjab Police arrested Brar’s father Shamsher Singh, a former police official, and his mother Pritpal Kaur from Amritsar. A court in Bathinda sent both to police remand till January 30.

Background of the Case

According to police, the arrests were made in connection with an extortion case registered in 2024 at the Muktsar police station. The case pertains to an alleged demand of Rs 50 lakh from a government school teacher, also named Shamsher Singh, a resident of Udekaran village in Muktsar district.

Police sources said the accused parents were allegedly involved in facilitating or pressuring the complainant in the extortion bid, though investigations are still underway to establish their precise role.

Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster with links to organised crime networks operating across Punjab and abroad, is wanted in multiple criminal cases, including extortion, murder and conspiracy. He is also a close associate of the late gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Political and Security Fallout

The threat has come at a time when the AAP government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has intensified its campaign against organised crime under its much-publicised anti-gangster drive. The audio message is being seen as a direct challenge to the government’s crackdown on gangsters and their networks.

Senior police officials said the threat is being examined and necessary security measures are being reviewed. The circulation of such threats, particularly involving families of public servants, has once again highlighted the transnational reach of Punjab-based organised crime syndicates and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.

Police have maintained that the arrests were made strictly on the basis of evidence and due legal process, and not as a pressure tactic against any gangster.
