Farmer concerns neglected at Punjab Vidhan Sabha: Raja Warring voices frustration

CHANDIGARH: As the Vidhan Sabha session concluded today, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, expressed profound concern regarding the absence of discourse concerning the welfare of farmers throughout the duration of the session.

In his statement, the PPCC Chief remarked, "It is disquieting that the AAP government has chosen to overlook any deliberation on the plight of our farming community during this extensive Vidhan Sabha session. I have persistently advocated for discussions regarding the farmers to explore avenues through which, as custodians of Punjab, we can extend support to our agricultural brethren."

Furthermore, he articulated, "All such propositions have been conveniently disregarded by the Aam Aadmi Party, demonstrating a reluctance to engage in dialogues where they would be compelled to take a stand in favor of the people of Punjab and work towards the advancement of the state rather than pursuing personal agendas. This pattern has been consistent within the Aam Aadmi Party over the past two years."

Condemning the government's actions, Warring asserted, "The entire budgetary session has been marred by pretense. Crucial deliberations concerning budget allocations were overlooked, and we were unjustly suspended from the session. No reprimand was issued against CM Mann for his disparaging remarks directed at MLA Sukhwinder Kotli ji. Moreover, despite our persistent advocacy, discussions pertaining to farmers were glaringly absent. It is evident that the Aam Aadmi Party is disinclined to champion the cause of our farmers, who have endured hardships at the hands of BJP-led administrations along the borders of Haryana."

Warring further conveyed – “It is pertinent to note that our farmers have been protesting at the borders of Haryana for around a month but still, no resolutions have been found by the Punjab government. While the Aam Aadmi Party continues to portray as if they are working for Punjab, their actions are completely contrasting with no steps taken to safeguard the future of our farming brethren.”

He concluded by emphasizing, "This government, notorious for self-promotion and unsubstantiated claims, has opted to remain silent on grave issues such as the fatalities of farmers at the hands of the Haryana administration along the Haryana border. It is apparent that the AAP lacks a genuine commitment to serving the people of Punjab, underscoring the imperative need for their dismissal from the state in the forthcoming elections."
