PATIALA: In a series of events being organised to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Gurmat Sangeet Department of Punjabi University Patiala launched 7 days' workshop from today as per the directives of VC Prof. Arvind.The workshop would taught Raag based Bani of Guru Sahib, Dr. Kanwaljit Singh, In-charge, Gurmat Sangeet Department.
Dr. A P Singh performed and taught raga Jaijavanti to the students. He also provided interesting information on the history and playing method of Taus. Welcoming scholars and listeners at the beginning of the workshop, Dean Dr. Yashpal Sharma said that under this series, a seven-day workshop led by Prof. Arvind has been launched. A large number of students and music lovers participated in the event.
Dr. Daljeet Singh, head, Guru Tegh Bahadur Chair, said that the University has done a remarkable job in this regard by arranging a number of events to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Dr. Paramveer Singh, head, Sinkh Encyclopedia, while appreciating the today's initiative said that though we have arranged a day long events earlier but this will be the milestone as it will remain continue for a week and students woul learn a much more related to the Guru Sahib's Bani.
