DC Gurdaspur meets officials to review flood prevention works

GURDASPUR: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Ishfaq with the officials of Civil, Police Administration, BSF, BSNL to review the flood control works. Officials were also present.

During a meeting at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner directed every department to be vigilant in dealing with any kind of flood situation in the district and said that the civil and police administration should make all arrangements in advance to deal with the flood.
He also reviewed with the BSF officials the preparations being made to deal with the flood situation.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officers including Drainage Department, Health Department, Animal Husbandry Department, BSNL, Powercom, Forestry, DFSC to provide drain cleaning, medicines, fodder, Prepare complete plans for adequate provision of telephone system, power supply, relief centers, rations, drinking water etc.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) to clean the sewerage etc. in the cities.
Similarly the District Revenue Officer should be kept in close proximity to the divers and boats and especially the boats should be kept close to the affected villages so that they could be used immediately if required.
He said that all the instruments related to the floods should be inspected and if there was any shortcoming then it should be rectified immediately.

Present on the occasion were Dr. Amandeep Kaur Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Gurdaspur, Gurmeet Singh District Revenue Officer, Charanjit Singh Axion Drains, Vinay Kumar Axion UBDC, DSP Lakhwinder Singh Randhawa and Mohan Singh, Sham Singh Deputy Director Animal Husbandry. Department of Compliance, Dr. Officers of concerned departments including Prabhjot Kaur Kalsi were present.
