College of Animal Biotechnology organizes its first Foundation Day

LUDHIANA: College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana celebrated its first foundation day.

This was the special day when the entire college family had the chance to reflect not only the beginnings of college, but the significant developments also since inception of the college. Dr YS Malik, Dean of the College, informed that in three days celebrations, several competitive events were organized for students and scholars of the college. Marvellous participation by students was witnessed with full enthusiasm. Dr. Malik, added that on first day Photography, Essay Writing, Poster Making and Cartooning competitions were held and on the second day Rangoli Making, Collage Making and Extempore. A cultural eve was also celebrated with prize distribution to the winners with mementos.

Dr. A.K. Rawat, Advisor, Department of Biotechnology, GOI, New Delhi and Dr. K. Kumanan, Former Director of Research, Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences, TANUVAS graced the occasion on cultural Eve. Dr. Rawat emphasized on the role of biotechnologist in society and encouraged the students to take up challenges in R & D. Dr. K. Kumanan praised the efforts put in by the students during three days events and emphasized on the importance of such events which act as stress busters in life.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU was Guest of honor for the concluding function. Dr. Singh, in his presidential address advised the students to take their studies and co-curricular activities intensively. Dr. Simrinder Singh Sodhi, Organizing Secretary of the event informed that this was the first of its kind event after the yearlong COVID-19 pandemic. He added that it brought great energy and enthusiasm among the students and faculty. Talking about the details of culture eve, Dr. Sodhi informed that “Nukar Natak” on the “Cyber Crime” attracted the attention of audiences. Dr R S Sethi, Prof and Head, proposed the vote of thanks.
