AMRITSAR: Heavy police force is deployed in Beas near the headquarter of Dera Radha Swami Sect after clash between followers of sect and Nihangs of Tarna Dal who run a Gurdawara near the dera complex.
Police resorted to lathi charge the clashing groups who exchanged fire and threw stones on each other. Police claims the sitution is under control and both sides are confined to their permises. Several persons and policemen were injured in the clash but no casuality is reported. The vehicles of police were also damaged in stone pelting.
Amritsar SSP Swapan Sharma said that traffic is smooth on Amritsar-Jalandhar highway and he is holding meetings with both sides.
The cause of clash is said to be cows owned by Nihangs entering the dera permises. The dera Beas followers opposed the entry of cows into dera permises.
