NEW DELHI: The infighting in the Punjab Congress is expected to come to an end after three member committee set up by AICC president Sonia Gandhi has submitted its report.
It is learnt that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will remain the Chief Minister and Congress will contest the 2022 elections under his command. Party high command is expected to take a decision on PPCC president and replace Sunil Jakhar with cabinet minister Charanjit Singh Channi. He is dalit leader and also Sikh leader among the dalits. He also remained leader of opposition in last Vidhan Sabha.
Navjot Sindh Sidhu is likely to be made Chairman of campaign committee of Congress for 2022 elections. It is learnt Sidhu has refused to come back in the cabinet.
The party high command understood to have reshuffle the cabibet and some new faces may be inducted. Raj Kumar Verka is the front runner.
The three member committee headed by Mallikarjun Kharge has submitted its report to party president and final decision is expected to be taken by weekend. The three member committee heard the Punajb MLAs for three days. Capt Amarinder Singh met the committee members today with performance chart of his ministers.
Majority of MLAs have admitted before the three member committee that Capt Amarinder Singh is only leader who can lead the party in 2022 assembly elections. Majority NLAs were not happy with the working of PPCC president Sunil Jakhar. Dalit MLAs raised the issue of due repersentation in the party and government.
