CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly condemned the speech given by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in English on the fifth day of the budget session in the Assembly on Friday.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters, AAP state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that by speaking in English instead of mother tongue Punjabi, Captain has once again proved to be anti-Punjabi. He said that writers, intellectuals and people of Punjab who love Punjabi language have fought a long battle to implement Punjabi language in their offices. He said that Captain Amarinder had insulted the Punjabi mother tongue by giving a speech in English today.

Mann said that one of the tricks of Captain Amarinder Singh was to do nothing in the past, and give speeches in English so that many people who do not know the language, cannot understand it, and he could easily betray them. "We respect all languages, but why not speak in the mother tongue of the people we are talking about, " said Mann. He said that if Captain Amarinder Singh could not speak in the language of the people then he should ask for votes from the people in English only in the coming elections, so that the people would give him a befitting reply. He appealed to the people to teach a lesson to those who are ashamed to speak in their mother tongue.
