CHANDIGARH: Commenting on the revelation of increased business in the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, of the capitalists that were established in Punjab during the last Akali Dal government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab stated that Captain Amarinder was also a part of ‘Team Modi’ like Sukhbir Badal; and the ones who were trying to establish the capitalists by abolishing the government and cooperative system from Punjab. AAP Punjab Kisan Wing president and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that it was very unfortunate that the Chief Minister of an ‘agriculture-oriented’ state was acting as a mediator of the corporate houses to fulfill his interests instead of the farmers.
He said that according to the media revelations, Captain Amarinder Singh was pushing hard and making every effort to establish the Adani Group in the state, and under this, the government was purchasing power at higher prices than the market rates, from the two ongoing solar projects of Adani Group in Mansa. Sandhwan said that Captain Amarinder Singh had never tried to take any action regarding these wrong agreements reached during the previous government. “The Congress government of the state, following the footsteps of Akali Dal (Badal), has continued the process of shutting down the government power plants in the state and procuring expensive power from the projects of corporate houses, ” he added.
Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Sandhwan said, “Captain should give an answer as to why six companies of Adani Group were suddenly established in Punjab in 2017. Also, why another company of Adani Group with the address of Adani House, Ahmedabad was established, shortly before Corona?” He said that both, the Akali Dal and Congress were in a hurry to sell Punjab to corporate houses – Adani and Ambani, for their personal interests.
The AAP leader said that Captain Amarinder Singh had also stabbed the back of the Punjab farmers like the Badals. Sandhwan said that Captain, firstly being a member of the High Power Committee agreed to the anti-farmers black laws and now was pretending to be pro-farmer. “Both Sukhbir Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh, are two sides of the same coin. Both of them want to take away the land of the farmers of Punjab and give it to the capitalists, ” he added. Sandhwan said that due to the wrong policies of Sukhbir and Captain Amarinder, today the farmers, laborers and the people of Punjab were struggling for their survival on the Delhi borders in severe cold. He said that Badal and Captain were alternately occupying power and were betraying the farmers. They are now trying to suppress the farmers’ movement and should apologize from the people of Punjab for the betrayal done.
