CHANDIGARH: Reacting to the recent Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report tabled in the Punjab assembly on Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that it shows the inability of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the recent CAG report shows that Captain Amarinder is unable to run the state of Punjab.
He said that as per the report, under the Captain Amarinder Singh regime, spending on education decreased by 2% and spending on health decreased by 0.63%.
"It clearly shows that the government does not feel that education and health of its people is a priority, " he added. Cheema said that not only in education and health, the government was spending less on development as well. He said that it seems as if Captain Amarinder wants to take back Punjab to the dark ages. Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Cheema said that Captain had made big promises to come to power in Punjab but over the years his performance had been abysmal. "He does not want the people of his state to be either healthy or be educated. All he wants is to run a mafia empire in the state. It seems as if Captain Amarinder has a simple philosophy to life: rule to loot, " he added.
He said that Captain Amarinder only cares about giving a boost to mafia and corruption, by working as the kingpin, while health and education infrastructure crumbles in the state. Cheema said that Punjab's expenditure on education and health was lowest among other states. He said that on the other hand, the Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government had revamped the health and education sectors. Cheema said that the Kejriwal government had increased their spending on these industries by manifold. He said with this, the state of Delhi was now seeing its benefits, whereas the Captain government did nothing in its four years rule and did not bother about the people of Punjab and for their development.
The AAP leader said that Delhi records the lowest malaria and dengue cases and when the pandemic hit the state, the government was able to manage it well because of its health infrastructure. Cheema said that Captain was acting like a monarch who just rules to loot. "Captain Amarinder had proved that he does not value the lives of the people. Captain, who formed the government by making false promises to the people before elections, proved to be a failure on every front, " he added. He said that when the AAP will form its government and come to power in 2022, it would revamp the health and education sector in the state just like it did in Delhi.
