Budget meeting of SGPC will be held on March 29: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami

AMRITSAR: The annual budget meeting of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee mini parliament of Sikhs will be held on March 29.This decision was taken during the meeting of the executive committee under the presidentship of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami at the Shiromani Committee office here today.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the budget for the next financial year will be presented on March 29.

In this regard, the general meeting will be held at 1:00 PM at Teja Singh Samundari Hall. He said that the SGPC has also decided to establish an academy to prepare Sikh youths for the PCS Judiciary. This Judicial Academy will be set up at Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra Institute, Bahadurgarh, in Patiala, in which the SGPC will arrange accommodation and food along with preparing for the competitive examination. In this academy it will be done purely on the basis of merit.

He said that before this, 'Nishchai Academy' is already functioning for the preparation of IAS, IPS, IFS and PCS General at Chandigarh by Shiromani Committee.

Advocate Dhami, detailing other decisions of the executive Committee, said that a YouTube channel will be established for Gurbani broadcast from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.

He also informed that giving 3 percent dearness allowance to the employees of Shiromani Committee has also been approved.
Advocate Dhami said that by passing a special resolution in the Standing Committee, commitment has been expressed to stand with the farmers who are struggling for their rightful demands. He said that the Shiromani Committee demands from the Central Government that they should stop the alienating behavior with the farmers and accept their demands. The Punjab government should also give up the dual policy and support the farmers.

He also strongly condemned the harassment of Sikh youths detained in Dibrugarh Jail by the jail administration. Advocate Dhami said that the executive committee has taken strict notice of this. He said that it is extremely unfortunate to violate the privacy rights of Sikh youths by installing cameras in their bathrooms inside the jail. It is sad that these youths have been forced to go on hunger strike against injustice, but the Punjab government is not taking it seriously.
He demanded that these youths should be transferred to the Punjab jail and that human rights and privacy concerns should be ensured.
