CHANDIGARH: Agitating farmers today thrashed BJP MLA from Abohar Arun Narang at Malout in Mukatsar district. Farmers had opposed Narang when he came for a meeting with BJP workers.
After heated exchange of words betweem MLA and farmer leaders, certain persons in the crowd allegedly started abusing Narang and attacked him. The reports said that clothes of Narang were torn and Police intervened to rescue hi. BJP MLA was escorted to a shop and put into safe custody. Farmers continued to raise slogans against BJP.
It is recalled that farmers are protesting against three agriculture laws brought by BJP led center government. Farmers are also demanding MSP for their crops.
Meanwhile Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar condemned attack on BJP MLA and said such unlawful behavior has no place in a democracy. He appealed to all farmers to abstain from unlawful actions like these as no one can be allowed to take law and order in their own hands.
