CHANDIGARH: As fear of terror has gripped school-going children in Punjab, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said there is an urgent need to investigate whether the Bhagwant Mann government is deliberately allowing an atmosphere of panic and terror to spread in the state.
Taking strong exception to the manner in which schools were evacuated today following bomb threat calls, Chugh said Punjab has never witnessed such disturbing times in the past, where children are subjected to fear and psychological trauma. “There is a clear design behind this, and it must be exposed, ” he demanded.
Pointing out that the AAP government has already turned Punjab into a bullet-ridden state driven by gangsters, where extortion calls and incidents of firing have become a way of life, Chugh said it is extremely alarming that school children have now come under this expanding cover of terror.
He said this was the second such incident in Amritsar, recalling that a recent bomb threat had earlier caused panic in a girls’ school as well. Demanding an investigation by a central agency, Chugh questioned whether this was a deliberate attempt by the Bhagwant Mann government to create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in Punjab.
Chugh said that threats targeting schools are not merely security lapses but serious crimes that create fear among children, parents, and teachers. He said it is shocking that in a sensitive border city like Amritsar, multiple schools could be threatened simultaneously, raising serious questions about the preparedness of the Punjab Police and the state’s cyber surveillance mechanisms.
