Akhand Path started at Akal Takht to mark the annual 'Ghallughara' Day on June 6

AMRITSAR: Sri Akhand Path Sahib started today to mark the annual martyrdom ceremony on June 6, to offer homage and respect to the those killed during operation blue star on this day 37 years in June 1984

At the start of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur, general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, member Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna and prominent personalities were present.

On this occasion, the ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Sukhdev Singh and additional head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Bhai Malkit Singh recited the holy hukamnama for sangat (devotees).

Talking at this moment, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Like every year, the Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom ceremony) with regards to June 1984 ghallughara (holocaust) will be marked on June 6. Dedicated to this occasion, Sri Akhand Path Sahib have been started today (on Friday).

Jagir Ksur appealed to the sangat to pay homage and respect to the martyrs keeping in view the sanctity and sensitivity of Ghallughara Day on June 6.”

Devotees do darshan of bullet-hit holy saroop on second day On day two of public display, the devotees continued to do darshan (glimpse) of holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which were hit by a bullet when enshrined at Sri Harmandar Sahib in June 1984.

This holy saroop were made public by the SGPC yesterday (on Thursday) and are enshrined for darshan to sangat at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbakhsh Singh behind Akal Takht up to June 5.

Today, during the second day of darshan, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, SGPC member Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurmukh Singh and others were present.

Meanwhile police has made elaborate security arrangements inside golden temple and also around it. Police jawans were deployed around Golden Temple and plain clothes police men deployed in parikarma.
