Akal Takht summoned Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on January 15 for challenging Sri Akal

AMRIK SINGH | January 05, 2026 04:58 PM

AMRITSAR:  Akal Takht Sahib has summoned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the Secretariat on January 15  to give his explanation.

Along with this, this action has also been taken in the case of the objectionable video of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that surfaced recently, in which he is seen doing highly objectionable activities with the pictures of Sikh Gurus and the great Sikh of the 20th century and national martyr Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.

While talking about a serious Panthic case going on recently, while expressing an anti-Sikh mentality, deliberately making very objectionable comments against the Sikh code of conduct and supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the principle of “Guru ki Golak” of the tenth given by the Sikh Gurus, Sikh sentiments have been deeply hurt.

Addressing the media in this regard today at the Secretariat, the acting Jathedar Singh Sahib of Sri Akal Takht  Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that the Chief Minister is sitting on a high constitutional position in Punjab and his anti-Sikh statements reflect the arrogance within him.

Jathedar Gargajj clarified that since the current Chief Minister is corrupt and as per Sikh tradition he cannot be presented before the walls of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, he has been summoned to appear personally at the Secretariat, Sri Akal Takht Sahib on 15th January 2026 to give his explanation. He said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib can never tolerate any matter of challenging the Sikh code of conduct and hurting Sikh sentiments.

Jathedar Gargajj said that the highly objectionable video of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hurting Sikh sentiments clearly shows his anti-Sikh mentality. He said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib will conduct a forensic examination of this video and if the report proves that this video is correct, then strict action will be taken against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as per Panthic traditions.

Meanwhile, Jathedar Gargajj asked the current Punjab government to clarify why the government has not provided justice to the Sikhs and victims in these cases so far in the cases of the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Bargari in 2015 at the behest of Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and the Maur terrorist blast in 2017 in which seven people including five children lost their lives.

He said that the main accused Pradeep Kaler, who was arrested in the past in the Bargari sacrilege case, has clearly stated in his statements in the court that this sacrilege was done at the behest of Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his follower Honeypreet. Along with this, the Maur bomb blast case is also linked to Gurmeet Ram Rahim's dera. He said that the government should tell why it has not arrested Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Honeypreet and other accused in these cases and brought them to Punjab so far? He said that in the Bargari case, sacrilege was committed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim under a big conspiracy against the Sikhs openly, but the current Aam Aadmi Party government did not use the Bargari sacrilege case alone for political purposes, but the government is working as a party to save an anti-Sikh false saint like Ram Rahim.

He said that the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have been saying that the Maur blast was done to prevent them from coming to power, but why did the government not take action in this matter after coming to power.

He said that the government files cases against the youth for small matters like posting photos with a toy raffle. This government has been expressing its anti-Sikh mentality for a long time by taking action against the Sikh youth under laws like NSA and UAPA.

Jathedar Gargajj said that in the process of transferring the cases related to the Bargari sacrilege out of Punjab, the state government did not file any appeal in the court against it, but the senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, Harvinder Singh Phoolka is himself fighting the case in the Supreme Court against the transfer of cases on behalf of the plaintiffs. He said that the government has not appealed against the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court under which these cases were transferred, in which it was observed that the atmosphere in Punjab is not right, which shows the hidden anti-Sikh intention of the government and its favoritism towards Dera Sirsa.

He said that the government has completely failed to provide justice to the Sikhs in the real sacrilege cases and the government leaders are playing with the sentiments of the Sikhs by doing politics in the sacrilege cases.

Jathedar Gargajj said that the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha  Kultar Singh Sandhwan had approached the Sikh Sangat in the Bargari sacrilege case three years ago and had promised them three months' time, but justice has not been delivered till now.

He said that this matter is in the attention of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and after collecting all the facts in this regard, a response can also be sought from S. Sandhwan.
