Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami reached Poonch to meet the families of four Sikhs killed in the attack

Dhami demands to restore minority status of Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir, and give special quota in jobs
AMRITSAR: Amid the tense situation in India and Pakistan, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami reached Poonch today to meet the families of four Sikhs killed in the attacks in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir recently and gave cheques of financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families.

He visited the houses of all the victim families and expressed his condolences and also participated in the final prayer in the name of Ragi Bhai Amrik Singh.

On this occasion, Shiromani Committee members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, . Surjit Singh Bhittevad, Mahant Manjit Singh, Deputy Secretary Harbhajan Singh Waqta were also present.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday Ranjit Singh, Ragi Bhai Amrik Singh, ex-soldier Amarjit Singh and Bibi Balwinder Kaur (all residents of Poonch) died during the attacks.

Advocate Dhami, who reached Poonch, said that the results of war can never be in favour of humanity, but its harmful effects are forever borne by humanity.

He said that the grief of the families whose lives have been lost is immense and the Shiromani Committee has made a humble effort to share it.

He said that this is not a favour but this Sikh organization is common to all and is performing its duty with this spirit.

On this occasion, the Shiromani Committee President also appealed to the Central Government to adopt a sincere approach towards the affairs of Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that at one time in Jammu and Kashmir, Sikhs were able to be reserved under the minority status, but at present they have been deprived of this.

He said that it is the responsibility of the government to make this reservation and to make a separate quota in government jobs.

Advocate Dhami also asked the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to take care of the four Sikh families who were killed and provide them with the necessary facilities.

He said that the government should make arrangements to provide a job to one member of each of these families.

Meanwhile, Mahant Manjit Singh announced that he will bear the education expenses of the children of the affected Sikh families, so that their children can get good education and become the support of the family in the future.

Charanjit Singh Khalsa former MLC and others were present.
