Abrogation of black laws the only solution, forming committee is no solution: Bhagwant Mann

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | January 13, 2021 05:31 PM

CHANDIGARH: Responding to the Supreme Court's decision for immediate stay on the centre's agricultural laws and setting up a committee to resolve the issue, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that party fully support the demand of the farmers and want to repeal the anti-farmers agriculture black laws of the centre. He said that the party does not want any compromise with the self-respect of the farmers and that the only way to overcome the deadlock that had been going on for months, was to repeal the black agricultural laws; and forming a committee was not a permanent solution.

Questioning the committee's fairness, Mann said that most of the people included in the committee were representatives of the central government. "We doubt that this committee would be able to understand the real problems of the farmers and solve them permanently. This fight of farmers is not for forming any committee, " he added. He said that no farmer organisation had ever demanded to form a committee for a solution.

Mann said that lakhs of farmers were not struggling to make a committee on the Delhi borders for the last one and a half months by putting their lives in severe cold; but their only demand from the government with complete clarity was that all three black agricultural laws that endanger the future of farmers should be repealed. "Being the son of a farmer, we realise the suffering of our farmer brothers and sisters who have been struggling on the streets for months against the black agricultural laws in this harsh weather, " he added.

The AAP leader further said that they understand the pain of the farmers and only want the abrogation of anti-farmers black laws to remove the struggle and crisis of the farmers' fraternity and to solve their problems permanently. "Whether the Supreme Court revokes it or the Central Government, we have nothing to do with it. All we need is the cancellation of these laws, " he added. He said that these black laws were brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government to benefit its fellow corporate houses.

Mann said that the attempt by the Modi government to force the farmers on the agricultural laws, which the farmers were rejecting and considering it as a threat to their future, proves that the Modi government was intent on it and is deliberately putting the future of farmers in jeopardy to fill its pocket. He said that they hoped that in this moment of farmers' crisis, Captain Amarinder Singh-led state government would take some positive steps for the farmers of Punjab, but the Captain joined hands with Modi-Shah to save his son from the ED, instead of understanding the pain and suffering of the farmers.
