KHATKAR KALAN( Nawanshahr):The newly appointed president of youth wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab and Barnala MLA, Gurmeet Singh ‘Meet Hayer’, said here on Monday that youth power would be put to optimum use to revolutionize the ill-managed and outmoded system of governance in the state.

After being appointed state unit president of the youth wing of the party, Meet Hayer on Monday reached Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, with his new youth brigade and paid homage to the great martyr. Others present on the occasion were the newly-appointed Vice Presidents of the Wing, Harminder Singh Sandhu, Sherry Kalsi and Jagdeep Singh Sandhu.

Addressing a large gathering of youth and party workers and supporters after laying wreaths at the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam, Hayer said that by liberating the country from the yoke of British rule, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and all the freedom fighters had conceptualised a new India of their dreams based on their ideology. “But the subsequent Congress and BJP-led governments which ruled the country since Independence have shattered the aspirations of a new India of the dreams of the martyrs, ” he said.

Hayer said that the Aam Aadmi Party was a true supporter of the ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and believed in making sacrifices for the motherland. Citing an example of the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi where elections were fought under the new-age politics of work ethics, he said the government there has been tirelessly working for all sections in order to eradicate poverty, fight disease, illiteracy, unemployment, corruption etc, the main ills facing the nation since Independence.

Later, addressing media persons, Meet Hayer said that the Aam Aadmi Party would improve the existing run-down system of governance by employing power based on the ideology of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, and added that under the mission, the fight against corruption and injustice would be intensified in the state.

He further accused Central government of adopting dictatorial attitude on all issues, caring two hoots for the sentiments of the masses.

Punjab Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot too came under severe criticism at the hands of AAP youth leader who accused him of “eating the future of the Dalit youth of Punjab by gobbling up their scholarship amount worth crores of rupees”.

To a question, he said youth in his party would play a prominent role in the next assembly poll as “people of the state who are fed up with the politics of old horses across traditional parties too wanted new faces to give a new direction to the state”.

He made it clear that his party would contest the next assembly poll on all the 117 seats on party symbol only.

On the occasion, State Vice Presidents of the wing Harminder Singh Sandhu, Sherry Kalsi and Jagdeep Sandhu said that AAP Youth Wing, would work tirelessly to improve the system and restore the glory and grandeur to the vibrant state of Punjab.

District President Shivkaran Chechi, District Secretary Manohar Lal Gaba, Party leaders Ranbir Rana, Gagan Agnihotri, Satnam Singh Jalwaha, Mandeep Atwal, Shiv Kaura, Rajdeep Sharma, Balvir Karnana and others were also present on the occasion.
