AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat wins Jalandhar West seat by 37325 votes

JALANDHAR: Mohinder Bhagat the AAP candidate in Jalandhar bye-election has won the seat with thumping majority. He won by 37325 votes.

Mohinder Bhagat defeated his Sheetal Angural his nearest contender who got only 17921 votes followed by 16757 by Congress party candidate Surinder Kaur. The Shiromani Akali Dal and BSP candidates lost their deposit. The SAD candidate Surjit Kaur was at fourth place with 1242 votes.

This seat was vacated due to resignation by Sheetal Angural who was AAP MLA and he defected to BJP. Interestingly AAP was at third place in Jalandhar west in the recently held Lok Sabha election. Congress was at first place and BJP at second place.

After winning the election Mohinder Bhagat thanked the voters of his constituency and said that he would give preference to provide basic amenities.

Winning Jalandhar west seat was prestige for CM Bhagwant Mann after major poltical setback in Lok Sabha elections. AAP could win only three out of 13 seats. Chief Minister was camping in Jalandhar during bye-election.
