9 cases filed against liquor contractors and others in the district for violating lockdown and curfew

NAWANSHAHR: Police have today registered nine cases against liquor contractors and others for violating lockdown and curfew in the district. Apart from conducting covid test of 733 persons moving without masks, FIRs were registered against 4 persons while 60 were issued challans for lockdown violations. Disclosing this here today, Senior Police Captain Alka Meena said that the liquor contractors violating the lockdown and curfew, who were selling liquor through "chor-moris" by closing their shutters have been booked by the police at four places in the district.
She said that similarly during the lockdown, various cases have been registered. They included cases against Dharminder Kumar, a resident of Nawanshahr for opening a timber shop at Kulam Road, Nawanshahr and Sohan Singh son of Gurmej Singh and Sonu son of Chandra Mohan, a resident of Balachaur for opening a hairdresser shop at Police Station City Balachaur. Similarly, a farm house named Qila Bahadurgarh (Jathedar Farm and Resort) in the area of Police Station Rahon was found open to the public, on which a case has been registered against Bahadur Singh son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Rahon, for violating the orders.
SSP said that today the police along with various medical teams in the district also got conducted Covid tests of 733 persons without masks in public places while challans were issued to 60 persons without masks and FIRs registered against four such persons.
She appealed to the residents of the district not to show indifference towards the Covid rules and not to go out of their houses during lockdown and night curfew. She warned that strict action would be taken by the police against the violators.
