23 youths rescued from fake de-addiction center in Nakodar

NAKODAR: The Nakodar Sadar police on Friday busted a fake de-addiction center and rescued 23 youths kept there.

Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doctor Ankur Gupta told the media that the fake canter was run in two rooms constructed in a dairy farm owned by notorious drug smuggler Ranno wife of Darshan Lal a resident of Shankar village.

SSP said Ranno has given this portion on rent to Karamjit alias Boby son of Madan Lal a resident of Garrha village under Phillaur police station who has no medical degree and permission from health authorities to operate a de-addiction canter.

SSP said a medical team led by senior medical officer Shakar Civil Hospital reached the spot medically examined all youth and admitted them to Jalandhar deaddiction Centre.

Doctor Gupta said that BOBY has been arrested while Ranno is absconding and has more than fifteen cases under the NDPS Act against her and four two-wheelers were recovered from the center

SSP said Karamjit Singh alias Boby has been arrested with 310 intoxicant tablets and booked notorious drug smuggler Ranno wife of Darshan Lal of Shakar village under section 21/22 /65/85/ of the NDPS Act and under sections 342(wrongful confinement) 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy ) of the IPC

SSP said the Nakodar City police arrested a couple of drug peddlers on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets and 700 intoxicant tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Jasvir Singh alias Babu son of Surjan Singh a resident of Sohal Khurd village and his wife Jaswinder Kaur.

SSP said that a case under sections 22(B) -29//61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and nominated Jatinder alias Sunni son of Jasvir Singh a resident of Sohal Khurd village who is absconding.

The Sadar police also booked three drug peddlers Sarabjit alias Shabo son of Shinder Pal alias Chhindi a resident of Shakar village his brothers Baljit and Balwinder Kumar under NDPS on charges of selling heroin and recovered 9 grams of heroin and 12 two-wheelers from their house.

SSP said City and Sadar police carried out special search operations during which drugs were recovered and busted fake de-addiction center
