2.18 lakh saplings being planted in Kapurthala villages to mark 400th Prakash Utsav

KAPURTHALA: To mark the 400th parkash purab of Guru Teg Bahadur ji , the Rural development and Panchayat department Punjab would plant more than 2 lakh saplings in villages of kapurthala district.

Joint Director, Rural Development and Panchayat Department Mr Avtar singh said that 2.18 lakh saplings were being planted in 546 villages of Kapurthala district under the campaign of planting saplings in villages dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Till now nearly 1.11 lakh saplings have already been planted.

While inspecting the maintenance of plants at Bhila, Kanjli and Jhal Thikri Wala villages of Kapurthala district today, he said that as a true homage to Guru Sahib is that we all must provide special attention to care and maintenance of plants in every village. He said that all sarpanchas and Panchas must be enrolled in the caimpaign.

He said that so far 1.11 lakh saplings have been planted in Kapurthala district and the target would be achieved during the coming monsoon season.

He also informed that the work of replacing the damaged plants with new ones dedicated to the 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev ji was in full swing.

Mr. Bhullar also said that this campaign of the department would not only help in keeping the environment clean but also provide employment under MGNREGA scheme to the people who were suffering from unemployment during the covid.

BDPO Amarjit Singh, IT Manager Rajesh and APO Vishal Arora were present on the occasion.
