KAPURTHALA: District administration is all set to launch a 15-day campaign from tomorrow onwards to expedite testing in every village to prevent further spread of the covid virus in the villages.
Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal and SSP Kapurthala Kanwardeep Kaur planned to make the campaign a success by holding online meetings with Sarpanches, Panchs and other elected representatives.
Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal today said that the high mortality rate in the villages was a matter of great concern. She said that it was came to notice that the people sought treatment from nearby unauthorized doctors and did not get the covid tested in time which further push them to the critical situation.
She said that for speedy testing in the villages, the testing would be done in the village as per the schedule given by the sarpanch so that more and more people could get tested.
She said that the positivity rate in the district was still 7 to 8 % which made testing and timely treatment were the key factors to curb the covid. She said that like last year people must organise "Theekri Pahras " and keep a record of every outsider visiting the village.
Talking about the vaccination, she said that people with serious illnesses between the ages of 18 to 44, workers registered with the Construction Board and families of health workers were being vaccinated.
Deputy Commissioner also said that for the convenience of the people, the district administration has also launched 'WhatsApp Helpline' 88400-35192. She said that people can also contact this WhatsApp helpline if needed
