SGPC to manage airfare for Sikhs coming to India from Afghanistan: Advocate Dhami

AMRIK SINGH | June 21, 2022 07:35 PM

AMRITSAR:Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), while announcing help to the Sikhs of Afghanistan, said that due to the current situation, air tickets for those Sikhs who want to come to India from Afghanistan would be arranged by the SGPC. Advocate Dhami also appealed to the Government of India to immediately allow the Sikhs living in Afghanistan to be brought safely to India so that they can get out of the climate of fear.
He said that there was no need to frighten the Sikhs living in Afghanistan and for those who could not afford the transportation expenses, the Sikh body Shiromani Committee would extend all possible support.
The SGPC president said that he had spoken to Afghan Sikhs in Delhi only yesterday who had apprised them of the plight of Sikhs living in Afghanistan. The entire Sikh community, including Afghan Sikhs living in India, is concerned about the fear and insecurity among Afghan Sikhs. The entire nation sympathizes with the Sikhs of Afghanistan in such a time of crisis and the Sikh body Shiromani Committee also feels their pain. Advocate Dhami said that although it is very difficult for Sikhs to leave their businesses and dear homes in Afghanistan, the Sikhs living there are helpless in the face of dire circumstances. Due to this the Government of India should make serious efforts for the protection of every Sikh in Afghanistan and bring them to India and grant them citizenship.
