PHAGWARA: Former Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Karnail Singh IAS who sought voluntary retirement on April 14 has been retired from the service with retro effect from July 10 by Chief Secretary Punjab Anurag Verma ie three months after his request for VRS.. The notification in this regard was issued today.
Earlier after one month of the VRS request of Karnail Singh (2015 Batch IAS Officer) was appointed as Special Secretary Employment Generation and Training on May 14.
Notable Captain Karnail Singh(working as DC Kapurthala) was transferred on January 30 and was not given any new posting , and had voluntarily sought retirement on April 14 only five months before his retirement ie September 30.
Chief Secretary would have to forward his request to Chief Minister and after his clearance (acceptance) personnel department could accept it, but all was depended upon Chief Minister only. Notable the State was facing acute scarcity of IAS officers in present scenario and seeking more IAS officers from Union Government.
Talking with This Correspondent here on Thursday Captain Karnail Singh said he was waiting for the acceptance of his request only.
He strongly clarified that neither he sought VRS out of any grudges nor he was going to join in politics.
Captain said that he never liked politics as he is a straight forward person and never new diplomatic language. In a light mood, Captain who remained staff officer of Former Chief Secretary V. K. Janjua told clearly that as his retirement was due on September 30, he only wanted to leave the Hall of a Theatre just before the end of a Movie, nothing else. He said his entire family members are residing abroad so now he wanted to spend his life with his family. He totally ruled out any possibilities to join politics saying “Question does not arise”
