PHAGWARA: A Villager reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling in his house after being harassed and tortured by his second wife and son in Village Chachoki near Phagwara. The deceased was identified as Amrik Singh Bajwa resident of Sant Nagar Chachoki.
On a complaint lodged by Navdeep Singh elder son of the deceased and residing of Batala close relative of the deceased told the police that after the death of his mother his father remarried with Sukhwinder Kaur who was torturing his father.
Investigating Officer Jasbir Singh said that though the deceased ended his life in the month of October last year and the police registered case under 174 crpc only then, but after lodging the complaint by Navdeep before SSP Kapurthala the police reinvestigate the case and booked mother-son duo on Fenruary 9 night.The deceased was under deep stress due to torture being done by his wife and son. The Police have registered a case under section 306 IPC against Sukhwinder Kaur wife of the deceased and her son Manpreet Singh.
