NAWANSHAHR: Nwanshahr residents will also be able to enjoy the facility of Volvo bus Service being launched from June 15 for Delhi Airport by the Bhagwant Mann led Government of Punjab.
The Punjab Government has also made arrangements to provide facility to the people of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar upto Indira Gandhi International Airport via Volvo bus plying from Hoshiarpur.
Divulging details, Manager, Punjab Roadways Nawanshahr Depot, Jasbir Singh, who is overseeing the preparations for the daily trip to the airport on June 15, said that Nawanshahr Depot is yet to get its own Volvo, till then, the makeshift arrangement will continue with the help of Hoshiarpur Depot Volvo Bus. He said that due to online booking, any passenger of the district, desirous to travel to Delhi Airport can book it in advance.
The Volvo bus from Hoshiarpur to Delhi Airport will depart from Nawanshahr bus stand at 7:55 am while its departure time from Balachaur will be at 8:20 am. The complete route of this bus is to run from Hoshiarpur at 6:40 am via Garhshankar, Nawanshahr, Balachaur and reach Delhi by 4:30 pm via Chandigarh.
The return journey from Delhi Airport via this route will start at 12:15 am, for which the booking process will remain online.
According to GM Jasbir Singh, the fare from Nawanshahr to Delhi Airport will be Rs 1, 070 while from Balachaur, it will be Rs 990.
Welcoming the Punjab Government's initiative, social activist Jaspal Singh Gidda, whose all family members and relatives are abroad, said that it would be a boon for the residents of NRI belt of Nawanshahr. He said that online booking would not only provide a great convenience to those coming from abroad to Nawanshahr or those going abroad from Nawanshahr to abroad but would also free the people from the monopoly of private transporters. He said that the biggest thing is that the fare of public transport would be very reasonable, which would be half of the charges by private transport.
Applauding the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann fulfilling his promise to the Punjabis who were going abroad or coming to their homeland from abroad, he said that it would be beneficial for one and all.
According to the General Manager Punjab Roadways Nawanshahr, the Delhi Airport bound bus would reach the bus stands of Nawanshahr and Balachaur at the scheduled time and leave for the next destination after picking up the passengers who had booked their tickets/seats in advance.
