PUNJABNEWSEXPRESS | July 21, 2022 08:40 AM

CHANDIGARH:President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) and Former Union Minister, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa have criticized the Central Government for completely excluding Punjab from the committee formed on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and agricultural issues. Sh. Dhindsa has strongly demanded Punjab’s representation in this Committee.

In a statement issued here today, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said that Punjab's contribution to the agricultural sector is very pivotal and the State is known as an agricultural state and has always remained one of the biggest contributors to the country's pool grain stock.
S. Dhindsa reminded the Centre Government that Punjab is a proud state as the State is known as the torchbearer of the Green Revolution. Besides this, the State had remained at the forefront during Farmers’ Agitation for repealing the three Farm Laws. MSP is a pivotal issue related to Punjab, said Sh. Dhindsa.

“It is really unfortunate the state of Punjab which played a leading role in the farmers' movement, has been completely ignored by the Centre. Also, sadly no official of the Punjab government has been included in the Committee, ” said S. Dhindsa.

S. Dhindsa said that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) has been constantly raising the voice of farmers since the beginning. During the Farmers’ Agitation, the party strongly opposed the three black laws on agriculture and will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with farmers' organizations in the future also.

S. Dhindsa has demanded the central government to include Punjab in the said Committee.
