Even after 37 years of genocide, the wounds of the nation have not healed - Bibi Jagir Kaur

AMRITSAR: The wounds of the government-sponsored massacre of Sikhs in Delhi, Kanhapur and Bokaro in November 1984 have not healed even after 37 years and sadly, the nation has not received justice even after such a long time.

This revelation was made by the President of the Shiromani Committee Bibi Jagir Kaur on the occasion of the anniversary of the Sikh genocide.
She said that in November 1984, at the instigation of the then Congress government, the Sikhs were attacked for several days, which shook every sensitive person in the world to the core. It was a cruel act against humanity, from which the Congress can never be absolved.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the perpetrators of Sikh genocide should not have been punished but on the contrary Congress was backing the culprits even today. Recently, the main accused Jagdish Tytler has been rewarded with a senior post in the Congress. It is an act of further healing the wounds of the Sikhs.
She said that Sikhs who had sacrificed more than 80 per cent of their lives for the freedom of the country were being betrayed again and again.
The SGPC Chief said that every year in the month of November the wounds of the Sikh community heal but the governments have not punished the culprits till date.
Meanwhile, memory of the martyrs of the massacre of Sikhs in various cities of the country including Delhi in November 1984, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) conducted a bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib in the Darbar Sahib complex.
Bhai Gurpreet Singh, the ragi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, performed kirtan and Bhai Baljit Singh offered prayers.
On this occasion Giani Baljit Singh, Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib paid homage to the martyrs of November 1984 and termed it as a major attack on the Sikh community.
During the function, the senior vice president of the Shiromani Committee . Surjit Singh Bhitewad and General Secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka said that the tragedy of November 1984 was a tragedy which the nation can never forget.
The senior vice president of the Shiromani Committee Surjit Singh Bhitewad, General Secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka besides Dharam Prachar Committee Member Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, Additional Secretary . Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna and other SGPC functionaries attended the Samagam.
