Chandigarh BJP releases its manifesto for MC elections

CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while releasing its manifesto for the upcoming MC elections has said that Chandigarh would become the first slum free city of the country and the process has already been initiated. Existing slum dwellers will be given pucca houses by preventing the construction of new slums.

BJP has prioritize numerous welfare scheme for all section of society including women, youth, elderly, employees in their manifesto released here on Thursday.

Union Industries and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, BJP President Arun Sood, BJP national executive member and former state president of BJP Chandigarh Sanjay Tandon, Additional Solicitor General of India and former MP Satyapal Jain and State General Secretary Chandershekhar while releasing the Sankalp Patra (manifesto) in Kamalam - BJP party said that during the BJP tenure many schemes have been implemented in the interest of the employees. The contractual employees will be confirmed. Manifesto also suggests increasing the old age pension, widow pension, increase in handicap pension from 1000 to 2000 and pension of more than 70 percent disabled to 2500.

State President Arun Sood affirmed that city youth will be given the priority in jobs apart from OBC reservation which will be implemented here under the constitutional clause. Talking about giving ownership rights by eliminating the Lal Dora limit in villages on the lines of Haryana, by regularising all the constructions, the manifesto states, all the houses, commercial and industrial buildings aligned under the Chandigarh Housing Board, Estate Office will be regularised.

The policy pertaining to converting all the commercial, industrial, and housing societies of the city from leasehold to freehold at concessional rates will be introduced while unearned profit policy will be terminated. Concerning village development, BJP leaders emphasised that the burden of taxes will not be imposed on the villages which have been brought under the corporation without any reason. No municipal tax will be levied in villages without completion of their development projects. The BJP, in its manifesto said, ownership rights will be given to those living in the houses of EWS colonies built under the rehabilitation scheme.

Other important points of BJP's Manifesto
· Will increase the RWAs participation in MC procedures.
· A garbage processing plant with modern technology will be set up.
· Garbage will be collected from all the floors of the houses.
· By the year 2023, new pipes worth 600 crores will be installed in all the wards
under the aegis of Jal-Jeevan Kosh.
24X7 water supply
· CCTVs will also be installed on the inner roads of Chandigarh.
· Sound proof community centers will be set up in all villages, colonies and
sectors with facilities of free Wi-Fi, indoor games and reading rooms.
· A new policy will be brought for the employment of street vendors.
· Under the Employee Housing Scheme, housing will be provided at affordable
rates.
· Will give insurance cover of five lakhs to all the poor people of the city under
the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
· Will provide more than one lakh employment opportunities in Chandigarh by
encouraging the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, etc.
· By increasing air purifier towers, electric vehicles and charging stations, the
city will become the first carbon neutral city with a population of more than one
million.
· Free sanitary napkin vending machines and disposal machines will be installed
in schools, colleges and public toilets.
· Health facilities will be upgraded as per the future needs.
· Single window facility will be provided for senior citizens and ex-servicemen
for redressal to meet their concerns and problems.
· Construction of Public toilets for transgenders.
