CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Hockey Academy Red won the men's and women's titles in the Chandigarh State Sub Junior Men and Women Hockey Championships at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
In the men's final CHA Red scored an easy 4-0 victory against CHA Blue. Chandigarh HA opened their account through Gurjeet who scored a field goal. Gurjeet himself doubled the score by scoring another field goal.
Bharmjot and Rishav added one goal ech in the 25th and 38th minutes, respectively.
In the women's final, CHA-42 Red defeated CHA-42 Blue by 3-0. Prinka (3rd), Tamanna (4th) and Anjali (33rd) paved the way for CHA-42 Red to lift the trophy.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School, Sector 35 won the third spot in the men's section after beating Government Model High School, Sector 42 by 3-2 in a penalty shootout. In the regular time Pinka scored a field goal in the 31st minute to put GMHS-42 into the lead. Manpreet restored parity for SGGS 35 in the 48th minute.
GMHS-42 (Women ) prevailed over SGGSS School 35 by 2-1 in the match for 3rd and 4th places. Isha (18th) and Neha (53rd) scored both goals for GMHS-42. Muskan reduced the margin for SGGS 35 in the 53rd minute.
Chandigarh Director Sports Sorabh Arora distributed the prizes.
